The group of teachers, parents and students assembled at Kampung Piasau-Piasau at 5 in the morning to wait for the 45-seater bus that would take them on the 4-hour drive to Lok Kawi.

The group arrived at Lok Kawi at around 10:30 am, and was welcomed by one of the staff who went on to explain what can be seen at the park. The group went to watch the animal show which started at around 11 am. The crowd was entertained by various acts which included animals native to Sabah, such as hornbills, snakes and a parrot, who could solve Maths problems.

Fire Drill At SR Piasau-Piasau

on May 29th of 2010, the teachers of SR Piasau-Piasau decided to hold a fire drill at the school. The main reason for the fire drill is to educate and give awareness to the pupils of SR Piasau-Piasau on the proper precautions taken in case of a fire outbreak at the school.

A meeting beforehand was given to inform the teachers that there will be a fire drill, although there was no specific time given to the teachers on when the fire drill will happen. This will increase the simulated feel of an actual fire drill, and teachers will get accustomed to the surprise of if or when a fire were to happen. The signal given was a long ring of the bell followed by a few short rings.

When the signal went off, the teachers ceased teaching, and asked the pupils to stop their activities, stand up and line up at the door. When all the pupils are lined up, the teacher will lead their pupils calmly to the designated assembly area, which was the empty area in front of the school. At the assembly area, the class teachers, who should have brought the class register, made sure all pupils were there. After all have assembled, the pupils will then be given a short briefing and reminder on the procedures taken when a fire occurs.

26th National Day Celebration

Brunei Darussalam celebrates its National Day on the 23rd of February each year. This year’s National Day celebration theme is “Negaraku Brunei Darussalam”. At first glance, it is a very simple theme, compared to those from previous years. But actually, this year’s theme has the deepest meaning. The simple theme is open to various possible interpretations. It could be a call for patriotism or a feeling of pride living in Brunei Darussalam, among others.

This year, Sekolah Rendah Piasau-Piasau held its own National Day celebration today. The celebration started with the pupils singing several patriotic songs, such as “Brunei Bumi Bertuah”. After that there was a quiz on Brunei which was held at the ICT room. The pupils were divided into two groups, “Anak Pertiwi Sejati” and “Bendera Negara”. The questions and slides were prepared by new addition to the teaching staff, Cikgu Kairul bin Hj Muhd Kincho. Then the pupils from the lower primary had colouring activities, while those in the higher primary had drawing activities based on the theme and logo of this year’s National Day.

Briefing for Year 6 by GB

With the PSR (Penilaian Sekolah Rendah) coming up next week, our GB held a short briefing with the teachers and pupils of Year 6  who are going to sit for the exam. She gave the pupils some advice and tips, including wishing them lost of luck.

The exam is going to be held in the ICT room, a suitable one considering that it’s air-conditioned and at the end of the admin block, where outside noise can be held to a minimum.
